  Kelly Cooper, PA-C

Kelly Cooper, PA-C - San Antonio, TX

"Originally from Chesterfield, Virginia, I grew up wanting to follow in my sister’s footsteps, as a nurse. I started my career in the medical field as a corpsman in the US Navy and after four years, decided to attend PA school. I graduated with honors from the University of Washington School of Medicine, MEDEX Physician Assistant Program in 2003. I am certified through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and am currently a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). I have been practicing in orthopaedics since 2003. I joined the 'Fox Team' in July 2007 and assist in clinic and in surgery. I thoroughly enjoy helping patients get their life back by providing exceptional orthopedic care. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, running and gardening."

Matthew A Froman, PA – C

Matt-formanAfter starting his career as a physical therapy assistant, Matthew completed a Bachelor of Medical Science degree at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois, where he graduated cum laude. He began working in Elmhurst, Illinois, as first assistant in general orthopaedic and spine surgeries and was responsible for patient care pre- and post-surgery. As a member of the Army National Guard based in Austin, Texas, Matthew served as senior physician assistant for eight years. Prior to joining South Texas Orthopaedic Specialty Group in 2013, Matthew has worked as first assistant in neurosurgical, spine, orthopaedic, sports medicine, plastic and general surgeries and has also been responsible for patient care outside of the OR. For Matt, the best part of his job is being in the OR. “I love fixing things. It’s rewarding to see people get better and they are always so appreciative,”.

  Mari Gutierrez, Orthopaedic Nurse

Mari Gutierrez profileHaving lived in Houston for a few years, I returned to my native San Antonio to pursue my nursing career. I knew I wanted to become a nurse after participating in the delivery of my niece, 19 years ago. I have worked in labor & delivery and skilled nursing. From 2004 to 2011 I worked as an orthopaedic surgical nurse. I find it very rewarding helping people regain their active lives. I especially enjoy working with Dr. Wilcox as he has an abundance of knowledge and is so eager to share that knowledge both with me and his patients. I am a member of the National Association of Professional Women. On my free time I enjoy spending time in the Texas Hill Country and love cooking. I listen to all genres of music and try to take every opportunity to go horseback riding as I believe that any time spent in a saddle, is never wasted time. Dr. Wilcox and I look forward to meeting and taking care of your orthopaedic needs.

"I have been a registered medical assistant for 12 years, 10 of which have been in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. I feel that this is my field of passion and I value the knowledge and experience I have gained over the years. This allows me to confidently educate my patients.  Currently, I work with Dr. Simon as a back office clinic assistant providing direct patient care and coordinating surgery. When I am not working, my time is spent with my family and loving dogs. My three sons play year-round football and basketball, so I really enjoy watching them compete and having orthopedic experience gives me peace of mind when it comes to their injuries."

When not working, I volunteer at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church and enjoy the cultural experiences San Antonio has to offer with my family."
