John R. Chance, M.D.

Dr. John R. Chance was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He attended Georgetown University where he received his Medical Degree in 1997. Dr. Chance completed his residency in Orthopaedics at Brooke Army Medical Center in 2004. He served in the United States Army Corps until his discharge in February 2009. He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service, while acting as the Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery Service in Abu Ghraib, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Dr. Chance is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine.

Dr. Chance was a general medical officer from 1998 to 2000 at Wiesbaden Army Airfield, Germany. He provided general orthopaedic services to soldiers, retirees and their families. From 2004 to 2005 he was assigned to the 115th Field Hospital, Iraq to provide orthopaedic care to the Coalition Forces during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2005, he was reassigned to C. R. Darnall Army Hospital, Fort Hood, Texas until his discharge February 2009, when he joined Northeast Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine.

He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Chance is Carticel and BLS qualified. He is also a member of the Bexar County Medical Society and the Texas Medical Association.
