Ples L. Kujawa, M.D.
Recognized as one of San Antonio’s “Top Doc” orthopaedics and Who’s Who in Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Ples Kujawa has been setting the standards of patient care for 17 years. His specialty is in sports medicine, but he does treat other general orthopaedic conditions. He attended the University of Texas Health Science Center in 1979 receiving his medical degree in 1983. He received his board certification in July 1992 and re-certification in 2003 by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Kujawa and his partners are also involved in various clinical research studies with our in-office research department, which often allows patients to treatments at the forefront of medical science. He has conducted studies on DVT trials for total knee and hip replacements, osteoarthritis pain trials for the knee and hip, torn meniscus, and osteoarthritis knee injections.
Dr. Kujawa attended fellowships at North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre in Sydney, Australia and The Orthopaedic and Fracture Clinic of Eugene, P.C. in Eugene, OR. In 1989, he signed on with the University of Texas Health Science Center as a Clinical Associate Professor.
Dr. Kujawa was awarded the Department of Defense Silver Lifesaving Medal by the Secretary of Defense in 1975, the Eagle Scout Award in 1974, and Boy Scout Lifesaving Award in 1975. In 1979, at Angelo State University, he made the All-American Track and Field Team. He is a member of the following organizations: Alamo Orthopaedic Society, Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society, Bexar County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, Fellow American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Fellow American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and is Chairman of the Annual Zoo Run with the San Antonio Board.
Matthew A. Froman, P.A.
Physician Assistant
Matthew Froman, P.A. attended Midwestern University in June 2002 where he received his Bachelor of Medical Science. He also attended the University of Texas San Antonio in January 1998 to June 2000 for selected course work and the Lake Land College in May 1997 where he received his Associates of Applied Science and Physical Therapy Assistant.
He is currently a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. He graduated Cum Laude from Midwestern University in 2002, Cum Laude from Lake Land College in 1997, and awarded the Army Achievement Medal in 1998. Matthew currently assists in the treatment and management of Dr. Ples L. Kujawa’s patients, in both clinic and operating room.
